Not only is Thanksgiving day, 11-26, a holiday, but it will be my 55th birthday. I sure have lots to be thankful for. I'm grateful for another birthday, as I wasn't supposed to live to be a year old. I'm grateful to still have my Mom (87). I'm grateful for my family, friends, & this list (ACHD).

I thank God everyday for: my beautiful daughter, who we worked so hard to adopt from overseas (I never thought I'd be a mommy), the roof over my head, my husband, who stayed around even when things were very tough, my parents whose strength is an inspiration to me, my health, and all of the wonderful doctors and nurses that I have met along the way.

I have sooo many things to be thankful for. My health, my husband, my wonderful home, all my "children"...the list could go on and on. I love Thanksgiving, and I am very thankful that I am able to prepare a big dinner for the family. But most of all, I thank God for giving me the life I have. If I had it to do all over again I honestly wouldn't change a thing.

| Among the many things that I am most thankful for each day:
- Another day of life
- Strength for the day
- A close, personal relationship with the Lord and God's Word
- All 6 of our grandchildren and their good health (they are my step-grandchildren)
- A very loving, considerate and compassionate husband and family, extended family and friends
- Safekeeping and success of both of my nieces
- Patrick, my great-nephew, who is just learning what this world is all about...
- Material blessings
- Love and support of my brother and sister-in-law
- Freedom
- Opportunities (even the ones I have missed or failed to take advantage of...at least they were available to me)
- Medical technology and advancements made over the years that have made life possible at all, and more pleasant as I live on...
- Each of you out there who are fellow travelers in this world and are so eager to share your experiences and encourage each other along the way. I pray not to envy you your youth, but rather applaud it and appreciate your willingness to overcome the extra problems that imperfect health can bring. You have help I did not have, but I am so thankful that there may be an end in sight and a cure on the horizon for pulmonary hypertension for those of you who are young enough to benefit from it! For those of you who are older, like me, we are still blessed! I am just as thankful for you! You have a powerful message to share by the mere fact that you have survived what once seemed to be insurmountable odds. Technology was in its infancy when many of you were born. Still, you fought on and have attained life at its best in many instances!! I am thankful for the contributions each of you has made to further medical research just because you have been a patient in a teaching hospital where your chart has been read and re-read by many in the field who learned from it, over and over again!!
- I am thankful for this computer and this list (ACHD) and the camaraderie it affords us!
- I am just plain thankful!

I am thankful for my boyfriend James, who has been a source of great comfort and joy this year. I am thankful for Judy, my "CHD grandma", who is a source of strength and inspiration. I am thankful for the Adult Congenital Heart Association's being incorporated. I am thankful for Anthony and Bonnie who have worked along side me on ACHA. I am thankful for the AOL ACHD chat and C.H.I.N. ACHD listserv, which have enabled me to form friendships with people too numerous to list here.
I am thankful for my family, who have always been there for me. I am thankful for my co-workers, who have been accomodating and understanding about my CHD. And I am thankful for my doctors, who keep a close eye on me.
