Memorial Garden

The Memorial Garden was created to honor our "brave warriors" who are no longer with us. We wish to thank their parents for sharing the stories of their precious children, and making them a part of our lives. We hope that you will find comfort in knowing that these beloved children will always be remembered, and will live in our hearts forever.

Mandy Lee Bender
4/21/95-5/31/95

           Alexis Jade Redd
             3/5/02 - 5/18/02

Our first and only child, Alexis, was diagnosed with an Interrupted Aortic
Arch, Ventricular Septal Defect, and Truncus Arteriosis....very big words
for such a small heart. After one surgery and 7 weeks in NICU and PICU, we
finally brought our precious baby home on April 24, 2002. God blessed us
with 3 1/2 weeks at home with Alexis before He called upon her on May 18,
2002.

Alexis, we miss your big beautiful eyes and your tiny hands. You touched our
hearts and miss you more than words can ever express. Our tears of joy
turned into tears of grief all too soon. We rejoice in the day that the Lord
will reunite us with you, our precious angel.

All our love,
Mommy and Daddy
(Maria Claudia and Kevin)

Natalie Nicole Stucky

There is a story of sweetness and beauty, which enlightens the heart of every parent who has lost a child.  It concerns a custom among the shepherd folks of the Alps. In summer when the grass in the lower valley dries up, the shepherds seek to lead their sheep up a winding, thorny and stony pathway to the high grazing lands. The sheep, reluctant to take the difficult pathway infested with dangers and hardships, turn back and will not follow.  Finally the shepherd reaches into the flock and takes a little lamb and places it under his arm, then reaches in again placing another lamb under his other arm. Then he starts up the steep, precipitous pathway. Soon the mother sheep start to follow and afterward the entire flock. At last they do ascend the tortuous trail to greener pastures.

Our Love goes with you and our souls long to join you.
We deeply miss you "Baby Angel Bug"!

All our love,
Mom, Dad & your new baby brother Grant Jonathan

  Alexander Eduardo Mercado
  12/15/02 - 1/6/03

Alexander was born with TAPVR (Total Anomolous Pulmonary Venus Return). It wasn't diagnosed until his 5th day of life, at which time he was immediately transported to a children's hospital that specializes in heart surgery. When he was 7 days old he had open heart surgery to try to repair the defect. It was very complex because he also had narrowing of the pulmonary veins as well as the major misplacement of the pulmonary veins.

His heart wasn't strong enough for it to beat on it's own after the surgery, so he was put on ECMO (heart/lung machine). He remained on ECMO for 2 weeks giving his heart and lungs a rest. There were many ups and downs during that two weeks.....mostly downs. The doctors finally had to make the decision to take him off ECMO because it was doing a lot of damage to his other organs and the rest of his body.

The ECMO was removed and I held him as he passed from my arms (his mother) to God's arms. He was only 22 days old. It was the most horrific time of my life. His passing was peaceful, but so very sad. I miss him so much. My little "Alexander the Great", as we lovingly call him. I always sang "You Are My Sunshine" to him every day of his life, and I continue to do so. I know he is in Heaven looking down on us and he is all healthy now. I know we will be reunited one day and oh what a joy it will be. I will finally be able to hold my baby and sing to him for as long as I want.

Sleep well little angel.
Mommy and Daddy love you....always and forever.

         Connor William Gilbert
10/25/02 - 5/19/03

Connor was diagnosed as having Tetralogy of  Fallot. He had open heart surgery the morning of May 19th. He came off the ventilator at 6pm that evening and at 11:00pm his heart stopped pumping. They worked on him for almost an hour and at ll:48pm, even with all of their efforts, they could not get his heart to pump so we said our good byes and he went home.

Connor was a wonderful little boy. Everywhere we went he would bring lots of smiles to even the oldest of people. No matter where we went for some reason people had to touch our son. He brought us lots of joy and happiness, and even though he was so sick, he always had a smile no matter what the situation.

We love you with all of our hearts and miss you a lot Connor. We know you are in a better place. Watch over us all of the time and we will see you again someday our little man.

We love you Elmo!
Love Mommy, Daddy, Katherine and everyone else who loves you.
