Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), Complete Repair

Abby

Abby and little sister Rebecca

Meet Abby, who her family, friends, and teammates affectionately know as "The Goose". Abby is a wonderful daughter, big sister, honor student, and an all-star softball catcher. This ten year old can be quite serious and competitive at times.

Abby was born with Tetralogy of Fallot. At ten weeks old and weighing about the same figure, Abby had open heart surgery for a complete repair of TOF.

The doctors told Abby's parents that just one year earlier the techniques and procedures for just one surgery and a complete repair at this age and size did not exist. Abby would have endured multiple surgeries with the chances of many complications.

So, after checking into the hospital on a Tuesday, a catheterization on Wednesday, surgery on Friday, Abby left the hospital on the following Tuesday. To this day, Abby has not spent another night in the hospital!

— Sam and Nancy, Abby's Parents, and sister Rebecca (Greater Charlotte, NC)
