Hi,
my name is Heidi and I am the proud mother of Alex. Alex was born 6
weeks early, but was a strong 4.8 pounds. Alex's EKG showed that he
suffered a heart attack in utero. As a result of this heart attack Alex
sent out blood clots, 9 of which caused obstructions in his small
intestine, and one which damaged the left ventricle starting at the apex
and extending up. The damage in his ventricle, which is not as severe as
hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS), causes him to have congestive
heart failure (CHF), hypertension, and the doctors suspect endocardial
fibroelastosis. Alex has only had a catheterization to date, so far he
is doing well using digoxin and Vasotec as treatment. If this story
sounds familiar it is because my mother Sue is also a member of this
group. She loves it so much I thought I would try it for myself.
