Alexandria

Aortic Stenosis, Subaortic Stenosis, LVH, CoA

Alexandria was a very healthy baby but had a murmur. She was first diagnosed with AS and CoA when she was a year old. A month later she had surgery to remove the CoA. She left the hospital with no additional medication and was monitored every 6 months.

At three years she was able to be monitored once a year.

At her 5 year appt. she was diagnosed with SAS. Still there was not enough pressure difference between chambers to seek treatment at this time. We were told at each of the appointments that she would not need to have surgery until she was well into 30's.

At her 7 year appt. she was diagnosed with left ventricular hypertrophy. The doctor believes that the AS and SAS are causing this problem. Still she is not on medication and nothing else scheduled.

Our next appointment is January 2007.

January 2007 Update

January 2007 appointment: Alexandria will need open heart surgery ... The sub-aortic membrane is causing significant gradient between the two chambers. Her surgery is currently scheduled for the middle of March.

— Melissa, Alexandria's mother (Colorado)
