First day home after surgery! |
She is the picture of health. A little small but by sight alone she is perfect. We are very fortunate, she is doing so well.
She underwent a cardiac catheterization when she was one month old at Tulane University Hospital in New Orleans. The cardiologist was pleased with the findings.
We are anticipating surgery very soon. She was scheduled for February, but the doctor would like her to be a little bigger.
I am now a very active member in fund raisers for the Heart Association. My family and friends joined our daughter in the American Heart Walk this year. I want to educate expectant parents on congenital heart defects. I was not prepared for the diagnosis we received. It has been an eye-opening experience.
We'll let you know how everything goes with the surgery. Keep us in your prayers.
November 14, 2002 Update
Our daughter, Anna-Grace, has truly changed our lives. We have never thought about the beat of a heart as much as we do now.
She underwent open-heart surgery on September 4, 2002, at Tulane University Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. Within five days, she was back at home and just as happy as ever.
Gracie is recovering well from her surgery. We know she may need other medical procedures in the future, but with the love and support from our family and friends, and with God's grace, we know she will be fine.
The outpouring of support we have received during this time has been overwhelming. The Lord has truly blessed us with a wonderful community of friends. The Heart Network of families has truly been extremely supportive and encouraging. Thank you.
