Aubrey James

SVAS (repaired), Mitral Valve Regurgitation, Prosthetic Aortic Valve, deformed Renal Arteries

Aubrey was born on November 15, 1990 with two heart murmurs. At 6 months, he had the supravalvular aortic stenosis (SVAS) repaired and they told us Aubrey had Williams Syndrome. We were to keep an eye on the mitral valve, aortic valve and his high blood pressure due to his deformed renal arteries.

At age 9, Aubrey again has the SVAS repaired, the mitral valve stitched, two other blockages repaired and when they took him off the bypass, his aortic valve blew out, so they put in a prosthetic aortic valve (a pig's valve would not fit)

After the second surgery, Aubrey lost large patches of hair and could not walk. He required physical therapy for about 6 months.

Aubrey has a wonderful smile and doesn't meet a stranger. At school he is a peace maker. He loves tractors, large mixers for making bread and playing the drums. (I could have done without that last one!)

We are looking for other children with two prosthetic valves. The next step we take will be to put in a prosthetic mitral valve.

Aubrey is doing well. We have been blessed!

— Laura and Jesse, Aubrey's Parents (South Louisiana)
