Caleb

HLHS

Caleb was born on January 7, 2006. We thought that we had a healthy little boy, until he was 3 days old. His heart stopped and was life-flighted to Cardinal Glennon Hospital in St Louis.

There we found out that Caleb had this heart defect called HLHS!! So we opted to do the Norwood procedure to ensure that we offered the best opportunity for him. That surgery didn't go so well but he made it through. Then he was home for 4 wonderful months. No problems.

In June, it was time for the second surgery. This one went better, or so we thought. Things just went downhill for Caleb after that. He spent the next three months trying as hard as his little body would let him to stay with us, and his big brother Jacob.

Caleb was a strong-willed little boy who in the end lost his life to 3 heart attacks. What a strong little guy to live thru what he did in a a 8 months. He will live on forever in our hearts! He's our precious little angel above.

— Dawn & Jimmy, Caleb's parents
