Calvin James

Coarctation of Aorta, ASD

Calvin was born at 36 weeks and did have some breathing problems at first. He went home and was doing well until about 2 weeks of age he started eating less and sleeping a lot. Due to his brother having a heart defect we took him to the cardiologist. That is when he was diagnosed with coarctation of the aorta and was found to be in severe heart failure. He was taken to surgery early the next morning to have the severe coarctation repaired.

Calvin did very well with surgery and recovered pretty quickly. He was able to join us at home just a few days later. He had his surgery at Children's Hospital of Michigan with Dr. Walters. Now Calvin is doing wonderful and hopefully his ASD will close on its own.

— Jason and Trisha, Calvin's Parents, and brother Connor (Canton, MI)
