ASD, Complete Repair, moderate Mitral Valve Regurgitation

Christine

Christine is a beautiful 7 year old girl whom has had her fair share of doctors in her lifetime! She's had open heart surgery for an ASD repair just before her first birthday, eye muscle surgery at age three, and surgery on three separate occasions on her ears, causing a slight speech delay. Thank goodness those doctors and surgeons were there as they have saved her life with their early detection and intervention of her heart defect.

Each time we visit the hospital, we have a renewed sense of just how lucky we are and how special Christine is to us. We know Christine is not "out of the woods" yet as we have been told that her mitral valve condition may worsen at any time and present a need for future open heart surgery. We try not to think about the what-ifs but just make sure she receives her regular cardiac check ups.

Christine makes our family whole and there is nothing we cannot conquer together.

— Debbie and Gill, Christine's Parents, and big sister Danielle (Eastern Pennsylvania)
