David

TOF w/Severe Pulmonary Atresia

David was born healthy, so I thought. Two hours later I was told he was been transferred across town to the NICU on the other side of town. He then transferred to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. He stayed there for 1 month. He has had 2 closed heart and 2 open heart surgeries.

David is now a very healthy 8 year old, who is playing baseball and will be playing field hockey in the fall with his cardiologist's full permission.

November 25, 2002 Update

David is now 9 years old. He plays field hockey, little league baseball, swims, is learning to play the trumpet, and acts like any other boy his age. In another 1 to 3 years he will need to have another open heart surgery to put in adult sized conduit and a valve.

Cheryl and Dan, David's parents (Northeast Pennsylvania)
