Dillon was born at 11:53 am on September 25, 2005. He weighed 8 lbs 4-1/2 oz and was 21-1/4 inches long. We knew Dillon had aortic stenosis, which was diagnosed at our 20 week ultrasound. Dillon was transported to Children's Hospital about 4 hours after birth.
The day after he was born he had a catheterization where they ballooned open his aortic valve. He spent one week in the hospital and then was sent home.
One week later we noticed Dillon was breathing very hard. We took him to his pediatric cardiologist and were sent to Children's hospital again.
We spent another week in Children's until they decided that he would have open heart surgery on 10/18.
On 10/18 he what is called the Ross-Konno surgery. Dillon struggled through the surgery and had to be put on ECMO which is a bypass machine. Three days later he came off.
On 11/11 Dillon had a catheterization due to a hole between his ventricles. They placed a device in his heart to plug the hole.
On 11/18, they tried to take the breathing tube out of Dillon. 2 hours later, they decided it needed to go back in. About 60 seconds later his heart stopped and Dillon "coded". He was given chest compressions for 45 minutes until they could perform another major surgery to put him back on ECMO. After 3 days his heart had recovered enough to come off ECMO.
Dillon received his trach on Nov. 30th, 2005 and finally came off the ventilator on Christmas Day 2005!
In January he received a feeding tube.
In February he finally came home.
In April Dillon had his trach removed and spent one night in the hospital.
Dillon is currently receiving many therapies to help with his delays.
