Shones Complex

Jennifer

I am a 24 year old female. I have a big sense of humor and love laughing and getting others to laugh. I enjoy cooing and being with friends and family. I was born with Shone's Complex, I've had six heart surgeries starting when I was two days old. When I was 14, I had a double valve replacement at Children's Hospital in DC. Not long after that I was told I had holes in my VSD patch. I had surgery to fix them and sometime during or after the surgery I had a stroke. I also had endocarditis, staph infection, and pneumonia. I went to Kennedy Krieger Rehab Hospital in Baltimore. I relearned everything again and went back to school. My left side is weak, but it's mostly my left hand. When I was 18 I was in congestive heart failure and one of my valves wasn't working properly. I couldn't have surgery at the time because I was too weak. I had the valve replaced when I was 19. And last year I had a pacemaker put in.
