Jessica Erin

HRH, CAVC, Downs syndrome

Jessica and Mickey

Jessica Erin was born October 23,1995. She was a large baby—9 lbs and 2 oz. Jessica was taken right away to the NICU and the transferred to Egleston where we later learned of her complex heart condition and also that she had Down Syndrome.

Jessica had the 3 stage repair and did wonderful through all of her surgeries. On March 9, 2004 everything changed. Jessica had a massive stroke caused from a clot in the conduit of her Fontan. Jessica struggled for 3 days and finally on the 13th we just couldn't make her suffer any more. We held her tight and let her know how much we loved her as she passed from this life to a more eternal one. She was the love of our life and we miss her very much. Jessica touched many lives in her short 8 years, always happy and never sad. She never met a stranger.

— Deborah, Jessica's mom (North Georgia)
