Julia Rose

Sub - Aortic Stenosis

Julia Rose

Julia Rose is our miracle baby, coming ten years after the birth of her big brother. Julia entered the world with no complications on June 8, 2001. She weighed 8 pounds 2 ounces and was 19 inches long.

When Julia was nine months old she developed a serious kidney infection that required hospitalization. A heart murmur was detected during her stay in the hospital. Initially, Julia was diagnosed with Stage 3 Kidney-Ureter Reflux. At two-years old she had surgery, and by three-years old she was given a clean bill of health from her urologist.

Within a month of that clean bill of health, Julia's pediatrician referred her to a cardiologist for the lingering heart murmur. An echocardiogram confirmed a diagnosis of sub-aortic stenosis.

Julia has had five echocardiograms, one every six months since diagnosis. The stenosis has grown slightly, but more troubling is the development of leak. A mild leak was found in her aortic valve on December 15, 2006. We are anxiously awaiting the next echocardiogram in June 2007.

We have all the confidence in the world in Julia's cardiologist at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital!

— Scott and Layna, Julia's parents, and brother Tyler (Southwest Ohio)
