Tetralogy Of Fallot / Future Complete Repair

Micah
We had no idea anything was wrong until I went into labor 3 weeks early. We were stationed in Germany and didn't speak the language yet. The Germans were wonderful though, trying very hard to keep us calm and explain what was happening. Micah was born by emergency C-Section 38 hours after my water broke. Immediately the doctors knew something was wrong. Micah wasn't breathing well and he was blue. They rushed him to the children's hospital in Nuremberg and began their tests. They discovered he had Tetralogy of Fallot and a cleft in his soft palate.

My husband made the trip from Lichtenau to Nuremberg to find out just what was happening and to take picture of our baby so I could at least see him from my hospital room in Lichtenau. Once he knew, basically, what was wrong he came back to me to explain. We the began the process of getting me moved to the same hospital as Micah and he began the process of having the Army move us back to the States.

Micah's pediatric cardiologist told us that Micah's best chances were to get his care at the Children's Hospital Boston. He had once worked there and knew what they were capable of. Thankfully Jason's unit was wonderful and they had us all in the States in two weeks. While we were in Germany Micah had a Tet spell and this moved everyone's time tables up. Once we were in Boston, the cardiology team ran every test under the sun to figure out exactly what was wrong and how to fix it the right way.

We have had him home for almost a month and a half and we are looking at having his first surgery at the end of October. I have full confidence in the team at Children's Hospital Boston. I know they will do everything in their power to heal my son. I am a heart mom, and Micah is my angel.
