Zoë Sequoia

HRHS, Tricuspid Atresia / Bidirectional Glenn

Zoë Sequoia (May 2004)

Zoë was born with a complex congenital heart condition called Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome, Tricuspid Atresia, Dextrocardia, Double Outlet Left Ventricle.  She beat the odds time and time again and ended up having a total of 6 cardiac surgeries in her lifetime.  The final repair for her condition (The Fontan) would prove not to be compatible with her anatomy and after a second attempt and failure at the surgery the complications ended up claiming her life.  Zoë was such a brave and courageous little girl who is dearly missed.

Zoë's joy and enthusiasm for life was awesome; she will forever be an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.  She touched many hearts in her lifetime and Zoë's legacy continues to live on.    Zoë was the center of my universe, my best friend and my little shadow...  She was amazing, never took anything for granted and was always smiling.  Zoë loved to dance just like "Angelina Ballerina".  She loved butterflies, birds, pigs, mice and trains.  She woke up with such a joy for life, loved school time, and had such an active imagination...  She could recite scenes from her favorite movies and had any one believing that she was part of the cast.  I wouldn't trade a second of the time we had together for the world...

We are devastated by losing Zoë and miss her so much..  She was a miracle and was truly an Angel here on earth and was way ahead of her years and I feel so proud to be her Mom.  It is what I learned from her that keeps me going and remembering to focus on the awesome time we had together...

Zoë  ~ You are My "Moonie Shiney" and are the prettiest and the smartest big girl in the whole wide world... Rest your head close to my heart... Never to part... Baby of mine... I can't wait to be in our dream boat together.. We love you forever and always sweet pea... Yesterday, today, tomorrow ~ Forever... for the rest of eternity...

— Love, Mom

I wrote your name on the sand...but the waves washed it away.
I wrote your name on the sky...but the wind blew it away.
I wrote your name on my heart...where forever it will stay

Zoë, I remember how you loved it when Winnie the Pooh would sing this song on one of your all time favorite movies...  I always think of you when I watch it with Zurik now, and when I look at the stars above... Missing you more than words will ever be able to express sweetie and I hope that when I look at the starts shining up high in the sky you can see them too ~ Wherever you are... I love you forever and always Moonie Shiney...

Wherever you are
by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman

Come out moon, come out wishing star
Come out, come out, wherever you are

I'm out here in the dark, All alone and wide awake
Come and find me, I'm empty and I'm cold
And my heart is about to break, come and find me

I need you to come here and find me
Cause without you I'm totally lost
I've hung a wish on every star
It hasn't done much good so far
I can only dream of you
Wherever you are

I'll hear your laugh, I'll see your smile
I'll be with you for just a while, But when morning comes
And the sun begins to rise, I'll lose you

Because it's just a dream
When I open up my eyes
I'll lose you

I used to believe in forever
But forever is too good to be true
I've hung a wish on every star
It hasn't done much good so far

I don't know what else to do
Except to try and dream of you
And wonder if you are dreaming too
Wherever you are, Wherever you are...
